Default Re: $4/180 - analyze villian\'s call

You're surprized by this - then how's that:

2nd hand of $27 / 18, I limp A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] in MP1, MP3 makes it 120 folded to me I call. Flop is 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], I check he pots it (250) I shove for ~1,380. He calls pretty quick and shows KJo, no diamonds... Two bricks later I win and double up with Ace-high...

So, um, do not be surprised by the calls people make in a $4 tourney...

ZOMG I WASN'T SURPRISED BY HIS CALL I AM NEVER SURPRISED BY CALLS MADE IN THESE 4/180s

To be more clear:

This was a situation where I thought the villian made a horrible call, but decided to keep an open mind and look into it, for some reason. ... I ended up really liking his call here.

put me on a range here, plug in his odds

I was shocked

Obviously if your range includes all pairs (which I assume you're getting at mentioning your 33 hand), then of course his call is going to be pretty close.

FWIW, I really hate the jam with small pairs in this spot.

Personally, given all the limpers and esp this guy who loved calling raises when possible for him...

...I put my range mebbe AT+, and...88-TTish+
(somewhere in there)

If this is really the range you make this play with then you are definitely playing too tight and missing some spots to pickup a lot of chips.

If this is what you think he perceives your range as then his call is pretty awful considering he's about a 2:1 dog versus that exact range and he's calling off 30k to win 40k so he's only getting 4:3 pot odds against an all-in player.

Cyber,

In this particular situation, yea, my range is prolly close to that tight. Not sure really, but generally close.

Other cirumstances? I'm a maniac.

I think I meant to type in 22+ there...not 88+
