also isnt the rake absurd over there? that may cause some players not playcash games

All 20/40 and up games (and I assume similar sized NL games) are "red chip games," so that when there's a flop, $5 is dropped. 4/8 is raked at 10% up to $6. Yes, it's pretty gross.

$5 in aussies isnt that bad.

20/40 actually gets raked 10% in $5 increments up to $10, so most pots are raked $10.

You guys have to remember that our avge wages are higher, and the dealers dont get tipped. so i dunno if that is good/bad. But basically for our casino's poker is still young and new.

Some casino's here dont even spread poker yet.

Look forward to meeting up with some 2+2'ers in "07.

Cheers

4-star hotel, central location, twin/queen: expect $200-250/night.

Exchange rate ~0.75

Any hotels cheaper (in walking distance or easily accesible to casino)? Map? "Quality" of hotel is not an issue except that it should be suitable for my wife and one year old son, who has never been to Australia to see his entire extended family.

enquire to Crown about poker player rates for the promenade hotel, which is the cheaper of the 2 casino hotels, i think it works out around 150/night and these are very nice rooms and only a short walk to the poker room.
