it is condescending. I have never tried any illegal narcotic. I am very much against them and think you have to have an IQ of less then 1 to use them. It is moronic period. Can I get any clearer?

[/ QUOTE ]

You can get much clearer. You probably have an IQ close to 85... An IQ of less then 1; do you even have an idea what IQ is?

Also please don't ever use any 'illegal narcotic(s)', leave that stuff to me. You are obviously not mature enough to use any drugs. You doing drugs would be an much greater threat to society instead of talking nonsense over an internet forum.

There was a good post about this topic in the psychology forum a while back. One guy even had a two separate PT databases one when he was stoned and one when he was not stoned.

LOL... this guy has way too much time on his hands.

I smoked weed while pokering for quite a few months with mixed results.

Sometimes I would play good, sometimes bad.

And to be brutally honest, smoking weed everyday is not good for your mental health. Paranoia, memory loss, I think slower...

But it is fun and something to do and I do it every chance I get.

I hate to post i useually just lurk and read but heres my expert insight.
Im a 4th year Univ Cali, student at a campus that is pretty liberal and "weed" friendly... or atleast HighTimes says so.. Anyhow iv played online poker nearly everyday for 4 years. In that time i have also smoked nearly everyday. or atleast 28days a month lol. Heres some thoughts:
1)Pot is going to slow your response time... This means you cant really 5 table.. I try and play 2-4 when smoking.
2)Myself like many other thousands of americans are are prescribed this substance. (stop calling it a narcotic)
3)50$/100$ NL can become very very boring when trying to play 1200-1500 hands everyday.Pot makes the time fly.

But that being said. For Many people it should remain a recreational/social thing. I do live with 6 other people and nearly everyone in my community smokes. 75% of people cant function at the capicty needed to think at a capacity for playing poker, or going to school. So they dont... And you shouldnt be playing poker if you cant. That leaves a quater of people who can... If your of the remaining quater of the population take your chances. I feel i preform slighly more pasive when "jazzed". Less pfr and followup betts, but more assertive on my premiums, and u still get paid. Hummm Food for though. Oh yea i would always recomend some nice indoor boohaa, to many strains out there.

As a 1/8 oz a week pot smoker for some 5-6 years I can tell you from numerous experiences that playing cards while high is generally a negative EV play.

For home games I guess it is okay since you probably know all the people there so the whole paranoia aspect doesn't really play. Besides, the amount of money on the line isn't usually that much so the experience becomes more of a "hang out" thing than a "win money at poker" thing. In this situation I am probably slightly positive lifetime.

In the B&M setting forget about it. You will be so concerned about how you look, if someone is looking at you, if someone can tell you are pushing a hand, etc, that you won't be able to make solid confident decisions at the table. Wearing sunglasses is almost a requirement, just as a mental mask of sorts. I have seen guys in Atlantic City go outside for a puff or two and then give away hundreds in the 45 min window when the high is the strongest. In all fairness I have also seen them run over tables, but they usually end up giving it all back.

Online it is the stone cold kiss of death. Depending on how long it was before you smoked you are either going to be super speedy and overconfident or very slow and dull minded. Also, when you start to lose the concept of bankroll discipline goes straight out of the window. How does one give away $100 playing 2/4 limit O8 in 20 min, take two bong hits and then log on to Party Poker. It magnifies your bad beat tilt and makes you think you are the king of cards when you are up. High variance w/ a slighly downward trend is a good way to describe it.

The single best thing resultswise that I have done for my game, just managing to do this in the past two months, was to go cold turkey w/ the weed. Like another poster said, it was taking more than it was giving.

LOLOLOLOL.....ill just add my 2-cents and say that i used to be a huge weedhead.....blazed 3x/day for like 2.5 years....everything sucked (life, poker, school, etc) ....i recently quit and can confidantly call myself a winning player. This is not a NA meeting so all i will say is this: i know its hard to do but just dont blaze and things will be good....guaranteed

First of all, in relation to godfathers comments, all I can say is more people probably have smoked weed than haven't, furthermore dont knock it til you've tried it, and lastly, either add to the post or dont bother posting, wish I didnt waste my time reading you're bs.

Second - Weeed. Well I smoke a lot normally, and I've found that unless you can stay stoned, your game will drop, you start "sobering" up and tilt will ensue for most players. They no longer find everything interesting, and I find when it gets 4 or 5 hours into a session at the casino I start playing well loose. Which means if I get a few bad beats im also more likely to tilt out.

In saying this, if I play at home, either online or home tourney, that weed can really help my game, especially online. Just with patience, and maybe a little more balls where required (I play six player limit 5.10 online and 10.20 otherwise)

Overall though, as said by a few, I think it takes more than it gives, especially in poker, where in reality we all know that a clear mind is key. And the only reason we smoke is because we really want too. Aswell as that, I think if you are falling asleep in the middle of a session, rather than have a puff, another narcotic will probably help more. . .

Drugs are bad mmmkkaaay.

Weed and cards dont mix, not if you want to be a winner.

Especially not in real life play.
