Besides the chips make sure you have some nice cards as well. Also make sure that you have some snacks and plenty of the drinks.

Good call forgot about that, I recommend either Copags or Kem's. Def have a lot of beer on hand or tell everybody to bring a 6 pack. Sit to the left of the drunk.

Thanks all for your replies! There is one problem: I don't have that many chips I have:

- 150 white
- 150 red
- 100 green
- 50 blue
- 50 black

Should I buy extra chips, or play with multiple colors? If the latter is okay, what do you propose?

thanks again

With that number of chips, you'll be making change constantly if you use reds as $5 chips. I would make white chips $1 and reds $2. If you run out, you could make a few chips really high value, like making blacks $20....almost like playing with cash on the table. I wouldn't use $5 or $25 chips since they don't divide evenly into your stakes.

You can make all your chips have a single value of $1 regardless of color. The potential problem with this is that if you are later going run games where chips have different values, a dishonest player could buy red chips now for $1 and pocket them, later cashing them in when they are played as $5 chips.

The problem is he doesn't even have enough total chips to equal the amount of money that would be on the table if every chip is $1.

You have the chips for this game.

You don't have enough whites to use them as $1, but you have plenty if you use them as $2. These will be your main chip and you have enough to give everyone around 20, or $40 worth. Keep with tradition and use your reds as $5 chips.

If you want to stick with $1/$2 blinds, I'd use the blue chips as $1. Since they'll only be used for the small blind, 2-3 per person is more than enough. Another alternative, which I would recommend, is to play with two large blinds, in which case you wouldn't even need your blue chips.

You have plenty of chips if you use them this way. If everyone buys in for $100, you'll give everyone 20 whites ($40) and 12 reds ($60). Keep the green $25 chips on hand for color-ups.

Enjoy.

And have to make change almost every hand? bleh- not a good idea, especially since you don't have enough whites on the table with only 2-3 per player.

same-sized SB and BB works better for NL games rather than limit.

Other than that, your other suggestions are good.
