The only thing that doesn't make it a fold is that he knows you don't have an ace.

so you think he is betting for value wih AJ?

I was thinking more like A7. This is a blind battle and he's a 20% opener so I guess his range to open from the SB is huge.

If he thinks you're weak or he's been making too many moves/floats then I'd lean towards calling, but I want a read to do that.

I wouldn't mind smooth calling here and seeing the river. There seems to be a decent chance that he floated the flop bet expecting you to make any type of continuation bet, and the A on the turn gives him reason to think you don't have top pair either. Also if he simply floated your flop bet he was likely to lead out here anyways representing top pair. On the river I would call a smallish bet, and fold to a large bet / push.

What i mean, is why do you think he's betting A7? is it for value or as a bluff or as a block? etc

dbitel,

villain's hand feels more like a pocketpair 99+ then an ace to me. I think calling turn/folding to a river push is better then folding the turn (which is not bad). The only caveat is that I often make calls thinking that it would not make sense for villain to have hand X only to be shown hand X I guess it just depends on whether you like to live dangerously?

If it were me, I might make this bet in order to look like I'm bluffing. Usually they call. Sometimes they fold. Sometimes they raise. Most of the time it works. The opponent needs to be the right sort.

this is a tough spot, but against an opponent like this I like a call. see what he does on the river. he is not generally going to fire again if he is bluffing.
