Default Re: Favorite Hardcore Bands 1992 - 2000

Kind of funny to see this thread, considering I just saw GB on their "reunion tour" about two weeks ago (The Pound in SF). A couple of things that stood out:
1. I'm old
2. They're old(er)
3. They sounded good and the crowd went ape sh!t for them
4. Few people recognized the Project X cover ("Dance Floor Justice!")

Anyway, some of my favorite bands from this period:
Deadguy
Lifetime
Snapcase
Strife
Split Lip
Kid Dynamite
Grade
Fugazi
Quicksand
Good Clean Fun

I still love GB, YOT, Bad Brains, etc. but I think they all predated this period (1992-2000) a little.

As for new hardcore, any suggestions?

Whoa, 5 pages and no mention of Sheer Terror?!?

As far as the str8 edge/vegan scene, I loved Raid.

And Catharsis "Samsara" came out well before 2000, so that's a good call.

Couple days ago I spent time watching Catharsis videos on youtube. They're so sick. I find Crimethinc to be pretty silly, but they're associated with some great bands. Catharsis, Trial, Zegota.

Ah, Sheer Terror... SuperBowl of Hardcore in NYC, January 1992(?), in the dead of Winter. I've got a raging fever and can't even stand on the dance floor, I'm watching them on closed circuit monitor... We leave after the show and trudge through the snow for what seemed like hours. I'm freezing and cursing life and warring with my then-soon-to-be-ex-girlfriend. How could I (not) forget Sheer Terror?

i went to probably 150+ hardcore shows over a period of 2 years. and a snapcase show in 1999 was the only time i was actually scared for my life because people were going so nuts.

Agreed. One of the more intense concerts of my life. In addition to snapcase, i'll go with SOIA, Refused, Converge and earth crisis. pretty standard so far.
