Re: Best LV Poker room to cut NL teeth
WSOP time is a special time for Vegas poker rooms. Play/action during that period of time in the Vegas card rooms is not indicative of action during the rest of the year.
Fair point with regard to tight passive nature. However, there will also be many more TAGs, which is also something to be avoided by a newbie. Loose passive is found at most of the ones I posted, but in general, 1/2 is soft pretty much anywhere, in general. Just know how to pick spots, which isn't hard. |

Luxor NL is soft. Bally's after 11 PM for sure.

I would say MGM, you get a lot of novice players at the tables

Re: Best LV Poker room to cut NL teeth
I have to agree with Steamboatin's comment re Luxor. It's one of the lowest buy-in NL games in town, which is a good thing when you're learning the ropes of live NL games.

I dont think it really matters, theyre all good games at 1/2nl. I prefer the wynn because of the cocktails waitress.

Re: Best LV Poker room to cut NL teeth
Of all places, I would recommend Wynn the least, honestly. The lowest NL is 1/3 that sues $3 chips and has no max buy in. Very dangerous place to "cut teeth"
Though I love the Venetian, I would also not recommend it for a straight out first timer NL player. More experienced players there then the low brow places I mentioned. |

But I would think for a beginner buying in short to a game like this would be ideal -- let all the big stacks take speculative shots at each other, which they may be correct to do, and quadruple through when you get a big hand that holds up. Boring, but effective at gaining experience. As long as you're controlling your own buyin, where's the "danger"? |

Re: Best LV Poker room to cut NL teeth
I think Excalibur and Luxor are the two best for newer players.
The Luxor game is $50 buy in but you can rebuy for $50 more as soon as you post a blind. Most of the other fools won't do this so you can have a bigger stack from the get go. Percy |

I look back now and know it is silly to even give a @#$% but I felt the same way at the time. Luxor / Flamingo / Bally's / Excalibur / Trop would be my answer. |
