Also, why raise to 5x BB PF? [/ QUOTE ] I bet 2.5 BBs. [ QUOTE ] don't raise the flop without a plan as to how you will react. i usually call the flop and if he leads into me again i push if i improve at all [/ QUOTE ] My plan was to bet any strt draw, flush draw, any pair that I hit, and C-bet an ace or 2 face cards depending on texture. He threw a wrench in my plan by raising so big on the flop. So I followed my original plan of betting- and got 3bet by close to a minbet.... I think folding is the right thing based on how the betting sequence worked out. But I can see myself pushing if he hadnt just bet 1k more back at me. I also agree with you about just calling his original bet- rather than starting the pissing contest that i did. |

This is 77-JJ a large % of the time, don't play these types of hands for TP value. They have to be played for either 2p, set, straight and flush value. [/ QUOTE ] I agree. Though TP is often enough to take it down, however his bets indicated otherwise. Therefore I folded, knowing my intent was to play for straight or flush draw. |

I think there is a good chance of you being behing here. That minraise is scary. I think I fold.
Generally I'd just call the flop. |

posting before reading any comments...
My gut says overpair. Fold. Reraise more than 1000 over the 800 would be my suggestion, and then still fold to a shove. |

I'd call the flop. If I raised and got reraised, I'd fold.

Re: 20/180- 89s- I\'ve raised PF- and have an 8hi flop...now what? LAG?
Guys, you don't play the LAG strategy half-assed for half a hand. How does that make sense?
On this hand, either you are play LAG or you are playing TAG. You cannot make this laydown at this point in this line. It makes no sense. Yes, you are maybe a 3:1 dog, maybe even a 4:1 dog, but you are committed to this hand, because semi- bluffing, underpairs and draws are included in villain's range. If you are playing TAG, you fold preflop. I don't mind the line postflop considering we are playing LAG. But you cannot spew half of villains stack and then suddenly TAG up when you realize you took a mediocre line (in terms of value) a bridge too far. You are committed to this hand and pot. Get in there. Bear in mind you have 20 bbs left even if you lose and a LOOSE AS HELL image that you can now work off of when you go TAG AFTER THIS HAND. If you win this hand, hell, stick with LAG and go ahead and win the damn thing |
