no...the argument (I think) is that we are creating these super bacteria and viruses by using only partially effective anti-biotics. Like the flu, which has evolved into some nasty strains directly b/c of our ineffectual treatments against its simpler forms. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, I've heard mention of this concept and it probably has truth to it, but I think most people who go on about is are underqualified to do so, like myself. (not to imply you are going on about, you are just mentioning it) I say screw it, bring on the super bacteria. That's why Eli Lilly invented Vancomycin. |

The drug dealer analogy would be correct if by arresting some drug dealers, you created super drug dealers who were inpervious to arrest (or, current methods of arrest) [/ QUOTE ] If there was a Super Drug Dealer in my neighborhood, I'd probably be dead by now. Also it would be helpful if they'd advertize in the yellow pages as such. |

When I am sick, it may be worth it to use soap. But when I am not, I think the health advantage of using soap (if any) is not worth it [/ QUOTE ] But using soap can prevent you from getting sick in the first place. Why close the barn door once the sheep have already gotten out? It sounds like this just comes down to risk management. For the most part, you can live without soap, and even using soap religiously will not 100% prevent you from getting sick. So it's just a matter of weighing the odds of you getting sick versus the inconvenience of using soap, and you and I have different levels of acceptable risk. |

I guess I'd need to see some stuff written by qualified scientists, but, I'm too lazy |

How do you wash away things that are oil-based with just water? [/ QUOTE ] with water? obv I am washing just as much oil off of myself as the next guy, or else oil would be stockpiling itself somewhere on my body, which doesn't seem to be the case. Or, I produce less oil cause I wash it off less, either way My oil levels appear to be at an acceptable level, I don't feel dirty or oily Serious question: does harmfull bacteria often reside in oil-based things? |
