Calling is fine, too, and if I'm feeling aggressive I would probably call and C/R any flop.

[/ QUOTE ]

This is a poor play because it turns your hand into a bluff unless that was your intention.

Yeah, it probably is a poor play. But some weak-tights will be scared out of their mind with QQ, and some stubborn types will decide you're FOS when they have a smaller pair.

But yep, just my aggressive streak getting the best of me.

AK, TT...

[/ QUOTE ]

my point was that vs AK/AQ 22 and JJ have the exact same amount of showdown value.

[/ QUOTE ]

Not against TT.

Call , lead any flop that doesn't have an ace for 2/3 of the pot, fold to a raise.

If he just calls the flop u have to look at the texture of the flop more closely. In general if there are overcards to your jacks check and fold to a decent bet. If there are not lead again for half the pot.

It's not just 1 hand. It's TT, ATs, 99, 88, 55, 98s, A2s, 76s...

In much the same way, AK is also AQ, AJ, KQ...

This is bad. If he calls the flop on a bunch of rags, why do you think that the fact you hold an overpair is in anyway relevant?

Villain has an overpair too if he calls. The texture of the flop means nothing unless you think it can help you bluff.

I have no idea why anyone would want to call and lead. AK unimproved never calls the flop.

bilbo,

I'm guessing that a lot of people want to lead as if we c/c then check turn, we're giving AK 5 cards.

grunch,

I think that range 1) is a bit (lot) wide and 2) that you're presuming he never pushes us off the best hand.

I take your point that JJ != 22, but I think theres a lot less difference than you're making out

dbitel,

That the opponent actually was BW should be evidence that stats over 55 hands is completely valueless. One good read is all you need. If the opponent actually were 11/5, you must fold PF.
