Default I have 3 options

But I hate them all

villain is 11/5 over 55 hands. This is our 1st battle of the blinds encounter and the 1st time he's 3bet preflop. I don't think I had been overly agro, but I did 3bet ATs preflop and show it down (vs some1 else)

I was genuinely confused by this spot. All options seemed to suck.

If your answer is to raise/call, whats your plan for the rest of the hand?

Party Poker
No Limit Holdem Ring game
Blinds: $1/$2
5 players

Stack sizes:
UTG: $336.80
CO: $216.85
Button: $197
Hero: $301
BB: $219.70

Pre-flop: (5 players) Hero is SB with J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]
3 folds, Hero raises to $7, BB raises to $24, Hero....

dbitel,

I like a call. Raising just folds out everything we beat, and folding is just too weak.

I don't really have a plan. Mostly I'm playing for set value, but I will call him once if I flop an overpair or if the flop is like Q72r.

So you need to get 105 more from him if you flop a set?

I'd say that's pretty likely, given the preflop action. Even calling and playing for set value is fine here.

I like a call here, and I also like taking a stab at a Q high or lower flop (preferably lower) with a 35-40 dollar lead.

I call.

If he views you as overly aggro, then call PF. I think there are a few options you have on the flop. I think a 4-bet PF here might induce a push from AK (and better hands for that matter). If he's likely to pull the RR off with AK/AQ/AJ/pairs, then c/r-ing most non paint boards seems okay. If he pushes after a c/r, we'll be in a world of hurt.

Another option would be to call PF and lead any flop (non paint). If raised then folding.

Yucky situation.

call.

He thinks you are raising light (AT hand) but is probably still a nit with QQ+ - call see flop and play poker.

JJ is not good enough to push preflop against this guy whos range is likely very tight - no set on flop give it up.

raising invites a push from him - then we gottta fold - folding outright sucks monkey scrotum - calling blows as he'll likely stop n go us and then we have no real idea where we are.

Calling is the lesser of 3 evils, I call and flop a set.

dbitel your hand is effectivley 22 here. Call for set value.

-Tickner

EDIT: A fold is not horrible. I like a fold more than I like a raise. But calling for set value seems best.

i'd fold here..

thats pretty marginal for set value...

ppl dont "generally" have a wide re-raise much in these limits..
