Re: So that wasn\'t the prize money on the table?

[ QUOTE ] Its good for the fish dude. Anything that brings in more players to the game I am all for. [/ QUOTE ] I would think naked dancing showgirls would bring in more players than fake money would. But that's just me. [/ QUOTE ] Bewbies! |

Those gigantic novelty checks that sweepstakes winners receive aren't real, either. The horror.

[/ QUOTE ] When you have a reality TV show, we all know that editing can distort things. But there's a line that's real problematic to cross, and that's just outright lying about what you are seeing. Anybody remember the controversy when ESPN was making up the whole cards that it missed? In this case they go, and here's the first place prize money!!! Gee twelve million dollars all in one place! Have you ever seen such a sight? If that is, in fact, not the first place prize money then there is real line crossing going on. If they want to blur the line by making the pile of money look bigger by having the bricks only be 400 bucks instead of 50k and having more bricks, well that may be a grey area. If they're only throwing 96 thousand out there and saying its the first place prize money...then that's flat out wrong. --Zetack |

Re: So that wasn\'t the prize money on the table?
With all the deception that goes on to make it more exciting, this is what bothers you? Pretty rediculous.
When the broadcast comes out, the guy with AK vs. Gold's three dueces will probably be knocked out on the first hand. After the first commercial break will be the JJ vs. QQ hand. |

Harrah's probably doesn't want to sacrifice the interest income they are making. [/ QUOTE ] A key part of Nevada gaming law is that casinos must have enough cash on hand to cover all chips in play at their casino. So, on the day of the final event, there's no chance they didn't have the money available at the Rio. [ QUOTE ] I would also hope that they don't give the prize out in cash. [/ QUOTE ] In the past, it was common for winners to take their winnings in cash. I seriously doubt Stu Ungar even considered taking anything but cash. Ungar won $1,000,000 in 1997. [ QUOTE ] Also, they would lose their insurance coverage if they just plopped that money down on a table in a crowded room, even with armed guards. [/ QUOTE ] I seriously doubt there's any insurance risk. Casinos commonly have massive amoounts of money moving through their casinos. They know how to handle security. |

The table was actually set right next to the stands and one guy was clearly in view looked like he could care less that the cash was right there. [/ QUOTE ] LOL The guy you're talking about is Huck Seed. |

[ QUOTE ] They know how to handle security. [/ QUOTE ] Exactly, and that's why they don't leave $12 mil sitting out on a table in a crowded room. |
