So that wasn\'t the prize money on the table?
Somebody in another thread said that Technologic had posted that those bricks of money on the table had a one hundred dollar bill on each end and there were nothing but one dollar bills in the middle.
Is this true? If it is, that's a bunch of crap. Harrahs and ESPN make such a huge deal out of that being the actual prize money on the table with all the shotgun-toting guards around it. This must be something that Harrahs started. I can't imagine Benny or Jack Binion perpetrating such a fraud on the public. Maybe Fossilman or somebody else in the know can comment on how things were at previous final tables. |

Re: So that wasn\'t the prize money on the table?
You are correct - Binion's had the shotgun toting guards with the cardboard boxes of real money.
Harrah's probably doesn't want to sacrifice the interest income they are making. Cheap bastards. |

[/ QUOTE ] First, where did you see shotgun toting guys at the Rio? Firearms were not present whatsoever in the PPV and there wasn't even really any security around the table. The table was actually set right next to the stands and one guy was clearly in view looked like he could care less that the cash was right there. Second, watch some of the WPT episodes on DVD and put them into slo motion, you will see when the cash is dropped on the table, some wads don't even have any bills in them, just blank paper and some just have 1's. |

Re: So that wasn\'t the prize money on the table?
There is nothing to gain and about $12000000 to lose by putting the actual money on the table. Also, they would lose their insurance coverage if they just plopped that money down on a table in a crowded room, even with armed guards.
edit: I would also hope that they don't give the prize out in cash. |

Re: So that wasn\'t the prize money on the table?
Then it's stupid to put the money on the table to begin with.
Why do it if it isn't real?? <shakes head> |

Its good for the fish dude. Anything that brings in more players to the game I am all for. [/ QUOTE ] I would think naked dancing showgirls would bring in more players than fake money would. But that's just me. |
