i) whats with the 3.5BB raise preflop? - aim to raise enough when you raise to get it to the flop HU (i.e. only get one caller) - standard pf raises are 4BB+1 per limper. If you raise a little too much and take down the blinds thats a great result - especially with garbage like 74s.

ii) we're OOP (relatively) preflop SB is still to act - if he folds we don't have enough implied odds (not by a long way) - if he re-raises we have to fold so just fold now and get it over with.

iii) we have no read on BB

use the 5/10 rule it's your friend.
