There was some sort of pool players tournament at Venetian about a month ago, and the games were ripe with pool players. They seemed like any other tourist, honestly, except they had a fancy leather cased pool cue in tow.

Might make the 4 table Riviera room a little more juicy I guess. Realistically, though, the only reason to play there is you are bored, and won't want to walk somewhere better.

Follow-up Question. Would the American Pool Players Association Convention/tournaments at the Riviera make it worth the walk to visit the poker room?

No. There is nothing about that room that makes it worth visiting, IMO. YMMV though.

Wynn is like a couple hundred yards walk from Riviera. Even Stardust right across the street is better.

Michael, I'll be there 2 weeks from Sunday as well. Is there usually one or more 3/6 game(s) going at the Venetian by late morning Monday/Tuesday? Are those games usually filled more with regular locals (like Binion's, Monte Carlo, etc.) or tourists?

Monday/Tuesday before noon at ANY casino will be predominantly locals (probably like 60%+). Doesn't mean they're good.

At Venetian, by Moneday/Tuesday at at 11AM-12PM there are usually 1-2 tables of 3/6 that are about half locals on average. Less locals then Monte Carlo/Mandalay Bay, but more then Paris/Harrahs.

"Doesn't mean they're good."

Yeah, I've run into weak locals (any 2 suited cards) at Binion's and Monte Carlo. I understand. Thanks for the info.
