Going to Vegas in two weeks, 2 quick questions.
How accurate do you think the poker room ratings are on Allvegaspoker.com? Things like quality of competion & table service?
What time in the morning do the poker games tend to break up and when does the action pick up again? Thanks. |

[/ QUOTE ] 100% accurate considering 99% of the ratings are by visitors to the rooms. The editors review is his own perception of the room as well. Just read the user reviews if you want to see what lots of 2+2ers think. [ QUOTE ] What time in the morning do the poker games tend to break up and when does the action pick up again? Thanks. [/ QUOTE ] 3am most rooms are completely dead. Noonish they start picking back up, most with morning or early afternoon tournaments bringing in players. |

Re: Going to Vegas in two weeks, 2 quick questions.
Depends what day the 3AM is.
Monday night/Tuesday morning at 3AM will see maybe 3-4 tables at Venetian still going. Generally, by 6:30 AM that dwindles down to 2 tables, and then sometimes to one. It will increase again around 8-9AM. On the weekend, all rules are off, and tables will play through until 5-7 in the morning. Smaller cardrooms are usually down to one table by the 4-6AM time period rather consistently. 3AM still has some action, though, especially on the weekend. Where I play, new games are started around 9-10AM roughly. At 8AM there is usually just one 2/5 or 1/2 going with a small group waiting for enough players to start 3/6. |

[/ QUOTE ] Not totally dead, but poker is not the 24 hour a day game many people think it would be. I've intentionally woken up at 4am just to play the drunks in short or HU games before only to discover the game had broken, and at other times to discover there was a waiting list for the only mid limit game left at the Bellagio because there were not enough dealers available. Its hit or miss for the poker tourist. TT [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] |

Hrmph.
I guess I was just going by my AC experience where you can pretty much find a 1/2 game going at all hours. |

You can, just not in all casinos. I wouldn't walk into the Riviera or Circus Circus expecting to play 1/2NL at 3AM, however I would walk into Venetian, Bellagio, or Wynn, and expect to see a few games.

LOL.
Yes, it is general advice. I was being rather faceious. Riviera does get a 1/2NL going around peak hours, but it dies fairly early in the night. Circus Circus tends to be 3/6 most of the time, but also, during peak hours gets it going. Of course, never setting foot in both is a good option as well. |

Thanks for the feedback.
Follow-up Question. Would the American Pool Players Association Convention/tournaments at the Riviera make it worth the walk to visit the poker room? |
