Re: Why are the WCOOP events in the afternoon?
its not just europeans. with a normal structure stars tournaments go until 2 in the morning or so if they start at 9. With the slower structures the potential end times if they started at nine PM would make them just as untenable for your avg. working guy to play as the afternoon start times do.

Much more realistic to get off work a couple hours early to play this, and the difference between 2am and 4am on a weeknight is not a whole hell of a lot, the next day is shot either way. |

Re: Why are the WCOOP events in the afternoon?
This entire thread is ridiculous. It can't be perfect for everyone. If they start at 6pm EST, then they're at 3pm here in Cali, and people are working. No matter when the tournaments are, people won't be able to play them. I'm sure PS put more effort into figuring out what would work best than we are right now.

This is a significant portion of PokerStars' players that they are categorically excluding, and it seems a little unusual. |

Re: Why are the WCOOP events in the afternoon?
I agree, the times seem very poorly selected to me as well. I think it's like someone else said, the structure of the tournaments means they'll play somewhat like the Sunday Million in the sense that they could go 8-9 hours...maybe more? I don't really know. If the tourney started at 5pm it would go til 1am, which is fine...but who gets to start at 5???

Re: Why are the WCOOP events in the afternoon?
I guarantee most of these will last close to 12hrs, for what its worth the europeans who work 9-5 will not be able to play in these either, unles they bunk off the next day.
Also the start times are the same as last year. |

Re: Why are the WCOOP events in the afternoon?
Having to take the day off/go in late/sleep through the next day of work is not so bad if it means you made it deep into the tournament the night before. Having to take the day off/leave early the day of the tournament just to be able to enter (and likely get knocked out after a couple hours), sucks. If anything, they should err on the side making the winners stay up late, not preventing hundreds (thousands?) of people from even entering.
