Re: Tap Vs Brita.
[ QUOTE ]
it's actually one of the main reasons why pop/soda/whatever you wanna call it is so damn unhealthy. it's all made from distilled water. [/ QUOTE ] I don't think this is true. The only reasons that distilled water is "unheathy" is after you pump it through lead pipes and such due to its aggressive nature. Or because people don't drink enough because it tastes funny. As far as actual minerals you can be effected by the lack of flouride (cavities) and mangesium/calcium (required for vascular system). If you are eating right both shouldn't be a problem. Last I heard the CDC recommended distilled water for HIV patients. Soda is unhealthy because of the drain cleaner they dump in it. |

Britta's can make cheap vodka taste better. Run it through three or four times. You just can't use the filter again for water.

I prefer the taste of tap, anyone else? [/ QUOTE ] It depends, it's not like the water that comes out of taps is consistant from one location to the next. Growing up we had our own well and the water that came out of the tap was excellent. However, you can't pay me enough to drink the junk that comes out of my tap where I live now. |

I like the Brita jug. Even if it doesn't do that much to your water, when you leave it in the fridge it gets really cold.

There is a signficant difference between tap water and bottled water. Distilled water is the best. You can distill your own water at home. blake [/ QUOTE ] Distilled water sucks. |

Re: Tap Vs Brita.
Wow. I am suprised to see the split on Google. I have come up with 3-4 sites in favor of distilled water, and 3-4 sites against distilled water. Both the sites that are in favor and the sites that are against are pushing an agenda, so I am reluctant to believe either.
However, all the arugments against distilled water are based mainly on the fact that distilled water has no minerals in it. Which is what one should expect and want from pure water. So, the negative aspects of drinking distilled water are not actually related to distilled water at all, and are instead related to general diet. There is also an acid related argument. It discusses the tendancy of soft water (distilled) to absorb carbon in the air, causing acidity. Once the distilled water absorbs carbon, it is no longer distilled. It is like dumping metals back into distilled water, all water is essentially distilled water at some point, once you start adding stuff to it, it is changed. blake |

[/ QUOTE ] the water itself never was really a conductor. its the impurities in the water that allow electricity to be conducted. removing the impurities removes the conductivity. but im not going to try it either. |
