Youngest ever ME champion

Most Hold-em bracelets.

Most WSOP cashes.

Enough said...no competition.

No one's saying he's not a great player, dude.

We're saying he's an [censored].

Why is that so hard to understand?

I don't care if you won every bracelet the WSOP offered, you go around saying you're the best player in Hold'em history and you're conceited and an ass.

Phil is a tool.

A few quotes:
"Some guys are so bad, it's not even Texas Hold 'em," Hellmuth said. "I think I'm the best hold 'em player in history."

It's hard to argue that. Hellmuth won his record-tying 10th WSOP bracelet earlier this month in a preliminary event against a field of 1,690 players. He holds the record for cashing at the WSOP (54 times) and has finished in the top 10 in 36 WSOP tournaments.
...
I feel like I'm at the top of my game," Hellmuth said. "When I come into one of these tournaments, I'm not even looking for average luck. I'm looking for a little below-average luck. Today, it was just horrendous luck."

[/ QUOTE ]

He's a tool because he's blunt and honest??

Umm oookay. You can stick with the guys who give the canned responses to reporters question.

Phil Hellmuth is the best thing EVER to happen to poker.

[/ QUOTE ]

I didn't read your entire response with quote. So I'm not trying to say I don't agree with much of what you say. But my problem with Phil (besides him acting like a total jerk to players) is he can try to steal a pot, get called, suck out and it's ok. If someone does that to him he goes on one of his rants about how bad they play etc.

I've often wondered if he ever considered that.

Wait until Hellmuth is 75 or whatever Brunson is and people will love him too.

[/ QUOTE ]
Like they love Amarillo Slim.

[/ QUOTE ]ridiculous analogy

[/ QUOTE ]
Why? Amarillo Slim is old, but still has a bad reputation; in fact his reputation has gotten worse in his old age due to angle shooting and child molestation. No reason to think Helmuth will be respected like Brunson.

[/ QUOTE ]

Woah! Woah! Woah! What's this about angle shooting?

[/ QUOTE ]

Amarillo Slim won a HU tournament in Europe after he survived a hand where his opponent said "allin" on the flop, Slim said "let's roll", Slim showed top pair, and his opponent showed top set. Slim convinced the TD that "let's roll" meant let's play the next hand.

Rumor is Slim had pulled crap like that before. He obviously is sort of a sleazy hustler type, but it is a little surprising he would try that sort of thing being from an era when players carried guns.

What sets him off is when he gets sucked out on by amateurs that he considers worthless. If it's a pro, he knows they're good so he can't go on a tirade.

Cough, cough, 2005 HU Finals...
