Re: That was SOOO not the card I wanted to see.
That is a pretty awful river card -- especially given your read that MP seemed decent. I mean, the turn call seems to rule out 87s, the preflop call makes any other straight unlikely, and the turn raise following your "I have a monster" flop/turn plays indicates a big hand. So what are we most likely looking at? A set. Or, if by some chance it's a flopped top two instead, well, you lose to that hand too.
Meanwhile, UTG has been acting like he's drawing, and while that could mean he has 7x and missed, it's also entirely possible he just made his flush. I think I like a river check. Mainly this is because I don't want to fold for one more bet in this huge pot, but a bet-call on that crappy river card kind of seems like a spew. |

Since I was 90% sure MP had a set, I checked the river... River: (19 BB) 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 players) Hero checks, UTG bets, MP raises, Hero ????? [/ QUOTE ] I'm not sure what I'd actually do at the table, but I think the best play is to fold. |

Yeah, I folded. MP indeed had a set of 4's, and UTG had a 46 for a higher boat, so they got into yet another raising war on the river - one I had to watch from the sidelines.
