The Beatles - Hey Jude
Probably one of the most famous songs ever. As a huge beatles fan i cant say this is my favourite. Without sounding pretentious it's a bit overplayed. Great for drunken sing alongs though. Very typical of McCartney songs, very singable, i love they way it starts so simply but builds into something huge. But i prefer Let It Be. At the Drive In - One Armed Scissor
The band name comes from the Poison song Talk dirty to me. Just as indie rock was turning into emo shoe gaze, out of El Paso comes this amped up punkers jumping all over the place. At the Drive In introduced some of the neatest lyrics since Fugazi to the masses, only to break up as they flirted with rock stardom. Bob Marley - Redemption Song
My knowledge of his music is limited to a single best of collection, but of the songs on that disc Redemption Song is by far my favourite. It's a very easy song, despite the lyrics being quite charged, and great fun to play on the guitar singing along with a group of friends. Another great thing is that it's not grossly overplayed like No Woman, No Cry. Coldplay - Everything's Not Lost Damien Rice - Amie David Bowie - Changes Elliott Smith - Son of Sam |

Son of Sam - Elliot Smith
The first time I heard this, was this version (with Nickel Creek, Glen Phillips from Toad the Wet Sprocket, Pete Thomas, and John Paul Jones). Elliot Smith's version though, is much better. His haunting vocals carry the song. I don't have much Elliot Smith to compare this to however, so I can't say where it stands in his catalouge. On it's on, a very cool song. Nick Drake - Pink Moon
As a whole the Pink Moon album is absolutely excellent, and the song Pink Moon is no exception. The piano melody (which i think is the only place on the album that isn't just guitar+vocals) is very welcoming, for lack of a better word. It's very pleasant. It might be interesting to get peoples thoughts on the song being used in a Volvo(?) commercial, but not in this thread. 'Mistaken' - Save Ferris [/ QUOTE ] Nice song from their second album, which wasn't as good as their first one since they abandoned alot of their original, ska sound. They had a very cool singer, though and the song has a nice and catchy chorus, with some oooh's and aaah's thrown in for good measure. Primus - Jerry Was A Racecar Driver
Good song from a good album, one of their catchier numbers. I really love the high up bass riff that goes on throughout. Pretty proggy as well, especially with the guitar. The Police - Message In A Bottle Muse - Hysteria The Chemical Brothers - Let Forever Be The Jackson Five - I Want You back |
