Re: Harrington\'s cap on PPT

I'm confused, why didnt they show eliminations 10-7? They didn't even mention how it went down(at least through the first 15 mins.) The whole concept of the thing is to show each step of the tournament, they show every elimination at least on screen at some time, but not the final 4 before final...? [/ QUOTE ] I thought maybe I missed something... glad it wasn't just me. That and Harrington's hat were my two big questions of the night. |

Re: Harrington\'s cap on PPT

Why did they make Dan Harrington put patches over the Red Sox insignias on his baseball cap? I seem to remember that they did the same thing a couple of years ago in a WPT event. [/ QUOTE ] Anyone else notice that at the first PPT final table they blocked out Chris Bigler's FreePoker logo numerous times (even though it could be easily read throughout the match), and didn't block out FTP logo on John Juanda's shirt (when they got head up)? Anyone know why? RazzO |

Re: Harrington\'s cap on PPT
I'd guess that the FreePoker thing wasn't an approved logo, while FullTilt was?

I've seen him wearing it several times, so I suspect that pokerstars pays him. He does fit the fat white guy demographic that Stars likes so much. [/ QUOTE ] Pretty sure he has some sort of thing with stars. I have a friend who works in the clubhouse for the sox and he had a bunch of stars shirts that he got from Wells to give out to people. |

Re: Harrington\'s cap on PPT
I noticed that too. I didn't think it was possible to make Harrington's hat any uglier, but the brown tape provided by the WPTE sure did it.
I assume that Party Poker and Full Tilt shirts were okay because they were sponsors of the show, but I find it ridiculous that they made Harrington tape over his signature hat, and with brown tape no less. (How much money is the WPTE making, and they cannot spring for some green tape? Did they not realize that Dan was going to want to wear a green hat at the final table?) Is WPTE so threatened by the Boston Red Sox that they need to squelch any kind of free publicity that they might be giving by allowing Harrington to display their symbols on his head. It would be different if he was still wearing his old Anchor Loans shirt. Come on. |

[ QUOTE ] but I find it ridiculous that they made Harrington tape over his signature hat [/ QUOTE ] It is, but if they make the no hat policy and don't break it for anything it's easier to get non-sponsored sites hats off the show as well. It's a blanket rule to cover a tiny little sponsorship loophole. I don't agree w/ the taping, but I see why they did it. |

Re: Harrington\'s cap on PPT
There are other trademark issues involved - in any given hour on MTV you can see dozens of trademarks blurred out. I imagine that if they allowed the Red Sox they'd theoretically have to allow Pepsi or Apple Computer, and that could get sticky.
It's funny that Harrington still wore the cap - must be a superstition. |
