I don't mind the semi-bluff, but it's the amount that I have a problem with.

However, I like just calling more. That flop isn't scary to a preflop raiser, so I think your FE is somewhat low.

If you are gonna keep playing after he raises the flop, you might as well push, you're not folding for your last 12 dollars or whatever it is on the turn no matter what card comes.

Also, raising here is kind of standard here I think, disguises your hand well and is a good semibluffing hand, also, I like to build pots on the flop against loose passives because if you hit on the turn, your near pot bet will be able to build a huge pot, whereas if you dont hit you most likely will see a free river.

Thanks for all the replies!

So it seems the consensus is that I played this one a bit too fast against this player. I think I felt compelled to dump my chips in on the flop when I was either a small favorite or not too much of a dog plus whatever fold equity I have (in case he has naked overs). But I see now how powerful using my position, calling the flop, and re-evaluating after his turn action can be.
