[ QUOTE ]

As has been said the flop call is atrocious!!!!

[/ QUOTE ]

This is the whole thing, isn't it. Well, you guys are absolutely right.

I will sometimes call a flop bet with a gutshot if I think my opponent has a hand, will pay off like a slot machine, and has lots of chips left. The flush draw and the other player make this a bad time to try this and its just a bad play. I can see that.

That being said, do any of you feel a pot-sized call on the flop with a good 4 out gutshot is *ever* worth doing? Is it just too hard to make up 11.5 bets on the later streets? Am I taking this implied odds thing too far?

Thanks everyone for the excellent comments!

Jim

calling with a gutshot on the flop is fine if its headsup and you think you can bluff him off should a flushcard comes.

generally its a bad idea though.
