QFT

However, I tend to play with a lighter bankroll live since the games are so much softer.

I'd feel comfortable playing live 40/80 with a 40k bankroll.

I'd feel comfortable playing online 40/80 with maybe a 90k+ bankroll.

Live games are a lot softer and you can only play one table...sucks but multytabling not allowed. Online games are a lot more tougher and agro and also i play from 6 to 8 tables hence 4 times the live bankroll.

With a normal winrate/SD for these online games, and you aren't willing to move down, then you do need something in the region of 1000BB

Maybe not so much of difference between online and live play, but certainly more bankroll is needed for online play.

Why?

1- Games are played faster
2- Most mistakes are made
3- Games are more aggressive than live games. (most important reason)

Cheers,
Nima

i think 1000BB for live play is good. some may think its too much, but essentially its not. Under bankrolling yourself is the worst thing you can do.

Ok. Probably a stupid question. When you guys say “BB”, are you referring to the Big Blind or the Big Bet?

So, in a 6/12 game where the blinds are 3/6 and the bets are 6/12 is the “BB” 6 or 12?

No. I've never had a 500BB downswing. Live or online. Not that it isn't possible, but very highly unlikely.

I'd say if you're on a 500BBs swing, I'd be looking very hard into your game. I'd be moving down limits long before that. 100-200bb swings are common. Not 500.

Just because you play 4 tables, doesn't mean you need 4x the bankroll.
