Questions about the proposed law:

If you sew your own flag, are you allowed to burn it?

What if you're trapped in an avalanche and you run out of firewood?

not everything has to be made in the USA. it's what the flag represents that makes it important to people.

[/ QUOTE ]

I understand, it just seems that it should be one thing that should be made in the USA exactly for the reason of what it represents.

[/ QUOTE ]

It might seem this way, but upon further reflection, its no different than anything else made anywhere else. Take off the patriotism goggles. Patriotism is an effective tool to redirect people's attention away from substantive issues, but it is good for little else.

I'm sure you can figure this one out yourself.

The funniest thing about the whole debate is that I can't remember of a single flag-burning incident for as long as I've been following the news, and yet people make it seem like a pressing enough issue to keep talking about it.

Something I find amusing about the big commotion over flag burning/desecration is the fact that most USA flags are made in China.

Isn't it a little hypocritical to be so "patriotic" but not have a problem that your "american" flag was made in another country?

[/ QUOTE ]

No.

This whole thing is stupid. Are most of these people aware that the proper way to dispose of a flag that has faded, or otherwise been damaged is to burn it?

I think it's silly to care about a flag and it's silly to care about where stuff was made.
