I'm messing with you Rich.
I think the Miata's pretty decent... I just can't fit into it without my knees being pushed into my ribcage. It's not meant for people >6' |

Yeah, that can be an issue. I've seen 6'5" folks get into a Miata, but they usually have shorter legs and a longer torso. Folks have also taken some of the padding out of the seats to fit.

An 03/04 Cobra can be had for under 30k and will blow anything out of the water in terms of speed. For another couple K (supercharger swap) you're looking at about 600HP and 10 second 1/4miles.

Re: I need a fast car under $30K. Give me some choices.
It hasn't been mentioned yet, but the Pontiac Soltice is coming out in a new configuration this Fall. I think its designated GSX or GTX or something like that. The standard config may be a little sluggish, but this new one looks like it has pretty good HP for its size and the handling should be pretty good as well. It's a 2-seater, of course, but I like the styling a lot. Base price is around 25k. Might be worth a test drive.
I'll admit that I'm a truck guy, so this is a little out of my area of expertise. Sorry if this is a bad recommendation |

I had an MX5 when I was still living in the UK, I could only give my >6' boss a ride with the roof down. It is still probably one of the most responsive cars I've driven, the short-throw gearbox was fan-tast-ic (as Ed Miller would say). The 350Z is pretty good too, and very quick. The G35 is a better looking coupe though, but more $'s. OP, check into insurance costs before getting excited about half the cars in this thread. Seriously, an M3 or Corvette for a young driver would be very expensive to insure. |

Subaru Impreza WRX STi [/ QUOTE ] No contest. Easily the most fun you can have on 2 wheels under 30k. |

Buy a used car. You can get some great deals. I know you are not interested in a Mustang, but a friend of mine just bought a 2000 Saleen with 400hp for like 12k.

When I was 16 years old my dad decided he would buy me a car. My limit was $20K, so my choices were pretty limited. [/ QUOTE ] that sucks dude. |
