Re: Having your man card revoked
I prefer NPR (Notice or Penile Revocation) to "man card".

JamesBoston, that's pretty bad, and you should be ashamed of yourself. I've never been to a strip club, which shocks most people who are just getting to know me.

Re: Having your man card revoked
James,
Trailer to hitch is not too hard, but understandable if you grew up in an urban area. Pretty much if you have ever seen it done and still can't do it, you are retarded. I'm a redneck and have never driven an ATV, what was the problem? I bet I could do it. Vehicles with trailers attached is tricky. I've done this a few times whilst towing my cars to a demolition derby and always had a hard time. According to my hillbilly ex-roommate you have to "point the wrong way and then follow it in." I never had to give up the controls but did have some very hairy moments. Driving a stick is pretty standard but I didn't learn until well after I could drive, and that was by choice. As for things I can't do, I let my girlfriend put together our Ikea furniture. She is way more patient than me. NT |

Re: Having your man card revoked
NT,
It wasn't so much that I absolutlely could not do these things- the hitch and the ATV. It was just the embarassing moment of uncertainty. We knew the basic concept, but were having to ask things like, "Is it attached? Well how do you know it's attached right? What do you do with that chain? Now, where do I plug the lights in?" With the ATV, I just literally didn't know the basic operating principles. For instance, I was looking for a gas pedal, and had to be told that little thumb trigger gives it gas. With the stick and backing up the trailor, those are just things I've never had to do that I know would take a little practice. |

Re: Having your man card revoked
I drove a 4-wheeler into a barbed wire fence right after high school. So, I won't even try that again. Stick . . . it's not that hard, but I didn't learn either until college, and didn't drive much till I was like 25, now, I can't drive an automatic any more. At Christmas, I drove my parents' van. I slammed on the brake with my left foot, then left it in park when I parked, and tried to figure out why it was rolling back. I thought the brakes went bad, then I realized, I just didn't put it in park.

Re: Having your man card revoked
I will never do yard work as long as I live. I will go as far as living in a place with no yard if I can't afford to hire someone to clean it up for me. I don't understand why anyone would buy a lawnmower, edger, blower, hedge trimmers etc. etc. when they can hire a nice lawn service for almost as much money over the long term.
If this takes away my man card, I don't want it back |
