>>>I'm not betting that river. What "solid" player would call with a worse hand?

Call a decent-sized bet, but easy fold to the push.

$$ At this level many of the more "solid" players would call with KQ. Perhaps folding is correct when he pushes; that's why I asked the question. But is it really easy? You also encourage a big bet when you check the river making the problem even harder.

BTW: thanx - for replying - Charlie

?? You lose to KQ.

I think the fold is easy. Both of you can see the board, and he has to give you credit for a hand when you bet the river; there's no way he pushes with less than Ks full.

I think checking the river saves you money, but I don't think it's slam-dunk; it's either block/fold or check/call small. The problem with a blocker is you make $0 when ahead, whereas if you check, hands you beat may bluff for 1/2 pot or so, and I'd call a 1/2 pot bet.

On the river I felt he might still have KQ and call a value bet. That may have been far too optimistic. My reason for posting this hand is to get opinions on the play at the river. Do I have enough information to put him on KK and check-fold or bet-fold? What was my best river strategy?

You have misread the board.
If he has a king, any king, you are beat.
Two kings on the board + two sixes on the board.
You have a six. Your hand is KK666 on the river.
He probably has a king. His hand is KKK66.
His hand beat yours.
(that it turned he had quads is irrelevant,
you should never worry about quads)
