Does anyone have a different solution? Ive tried the fix on this thread without success. Will Shaw be fixing this problem or just leaveing it as is.

Here's what Shaw has to say (this fix worked for me):
Using Windows XP, you can change your DNS in the following manner: open your Control Panel double-click Network Connections right-click Local Area Connection click Properties from the resulting context menu click TCP/IP and click Properties select "Use the following DNS" in the boxes, enter any of the following numbers that do not already appear: 64.59.144.16 64.59.144.17 64.59.144.18 64.59.144.19 70.68.166.242 64.59.144.90 64.59.144.91 64.59.144.92 64.59.144.93 Once this has been done, the problem should be resolved. Should you continue to experience difficulties, please let us know. |

[ QUOTE ] Which ISP!? Those error messages are generated by your host (a host), not by Shaw. We are getting to your host (a host) fine, it is then when there is a failure to resolve to your pages. This workaround is nonsense. If I can't get there by entering http://82.165.132.175/ or http://www.pokeracesoftware.com/, directly into the browser, then manipulating the HOSTS file is a waste of time. [/ QUOTE ] Open a command line by going to Start -> Run, typing in "cmd" and hit Enter. Then type "ping pokeracesoftware.com". If it doesn't ping 82.165.132.175, then your computer is still looking at the old host. You can't type the IP address directly in your browser because this IP is shared among several different domains and requires the domain name to determine which page to serve to you. It seems that Shaw is the only ISP having this problem. The DNS error page is on my old server which NOBODY should be pointing to if their ISP updates DNS entries correctly, which Shaw obviously doesn't. Again, if you ping the domain and don't get the IP address above, then you need to double-check that you changed your host file correctly. [/ QUOTE ] Josh, you should really look into getting a VPS or something so you have a 1 to 1 domain to ip relationship. Virtual hosting is really not a good idea when you have customers. |

I am looking into this. However, Shaw is the only ISP that I am aware of that is having this problem. I don't know why they won't admit it's their problem and fix it.
However, on the old servers, I put up a page that gives instructions on how to point your computer to the correct server. |
