Re: Boot Camp for WSOP
You'd be much better served focusing on deep stacked cash game play than worrying about MTT or live game experience.

Little Green Book. [/ QUOTE ] That is fantastic advice. It has a nice MTT section in it, and all of the material related to cash games transfers quite nicely over to the deep stacked portion of tourneys as well. The book is basically Phil Gordon documenting how he plays and is a very complete book if you want to learn MTT's in a short time frame. Or if you want to push and pray, Kill Phil... |

Re: Boot Camp for WSOP
just reread hoh2 and read Hoh3.
and play some deepstacked tourneys. yes there are alot of good players at the wsop but there are alot of players JUST LIKE YOU. My last advice would be to enjoy the experience, life is too short. peace billyb |

Re: Boot Camp for WSOP
Forget about Kill Phil.
Your problem will not be beating better players. Your problem will be surviving confrontations with equally skilled or worse players - they are pretty much guaranteed to make up more than 50% of the competition. Read MLG's thread "Going deeper" in the MTT forum. Take is easy. Stacks are DEEP - play like you would play a cash game. Have fun. Enjoy being a part of the crazyness. Remember, you have nothing to lose and everything to win. It's game, it's exiting, it's for fun. Good luck! |

Re: Boot Camp for WSOP
Yea I guess that's a good point that most of the players will be just like me. If the players at most of the low-level satellites are on the level of the players in my freeroll, that's a very good sign.
I do have the Little Green Book actually; I'll have to re-read it. I haven't played a cash game in a long time, and rarely play them at all outside of small home games. That worries me a bit, as I'd be more comfortable with a "normal" online-type MTT structure. But the structure probably is a good thing unless I'm totally outmatched. |
