In no way do I support the Iraq fiasco.

[/ QUOTE ]

If you want a reason why your fav teller had to have a donation jar you should start calling out the real reasons. People cant afford medical care because your economy is being destroyed by the military-industrial complex who pretty much owns your government.

BTW - how are your taxes going to prevent obesity?

[/ QUOTE ]

Education namely.

Somehow, my taxes, or lack thereof, are allowing "fast food" companies in schools. My taxes, or lack thereof, cut out PE classes.

Get my drift?

How much do you think WE paid?

[/ QUOTE ]

Who is "WE"?

Folks who are subject to payroll tax probably paid for most of it.

The wealthy folks paid for very little of it, since they have little payroll tax obligation. This is why I don't understand the fascination with W's tax cuts. Most of us don't benefit.

So, Hmmmmmmm, I suppose that you are very rich? Not only that, you're so rich that you waste your time posting on this website?

Not sure what that is supposed to mean. I am comfortable, but certainly not rich. I guess I missed your sarcasm.

Judging by you wasting your time posting on this website, I assume that you would like me to help support you?

1. ? I havent seen anything that said who paid for the operation. Often doctors waive their fees for high profile intricate operations, and their hospitals reduce or waive fees as well.

2. The rich make most of their income from investments and not from a "paycheck". Most Americans receive income from taxed paychecks. even if they make "most of their income from investements" their paychecks are still 10-40 times higher than the paychecks of the lower and middle class, but the cost of health benefits is the same or lower for them. You need to rethink your math if you think the rich arent paying more than their fair share.

It only affects very, very, wealthy people. Yet, the conservatives have estate taxes are indirectly paid by the government now. eliminating them would actually do very little to net revenues. Why? Because every family that is at risk of paying an estate tax pays them by buying insurance. The insurance proceeds arent taxable. The insurance company makes their profit and pays some tax on it, but the money the family spends on insurance can no longer be invested in other ways and that costs tax revenues. Its a big shell game thats worth pennies on the dollar to the government. Without researching it at all, I'll lay 2:1 that the insurance lobby is the biggest spender on retaining estate taxes.

It stated in the article that the government paid for it. There was nothing about doctors/hospitals donating their time and expertise.
