.5/1 is fine to stand up as long as you move down if you lose a bit over half your roll.

.50 is a great start. Start out full ring so you get an idea of "normal" play before diving in to 6 max.

well i started with 300 too, and im a multitabler on stars. you started out 12-tabling the 6.50's, then once you have about 50 buy ins of the next level you could probably move on safely. a friend of mine did that and now he has a roll of 20k multitabling the 60's. im still on the 6.50s because i dont play as much as he does but im on my way.
