I'd rather have the bad beat loser get rewarded, rather than add on money to someone with a big hand (presumably winning money with it), but whatever works.

What happens if you have a bad beat hand- does the better hand get the quads+ bonus?

Yes. This is the bad part. A few weeks ago I turned the idiot end of a straight flush and lost to the nut straight flush. A few people said we should split it but it ultimately (he gave me a tenth of it, which was nice) ended up going to the guy with the nuts. I think I would like a bad beat jackpot better personally, but I don't run the game.

Wow, forgot I even posted this here. Our game is typiucally only 5 - 9 players.

It would seem that way but we are truly a group that is all about the game. We play small stakes and keep the play quite serious. Our goal is to better ourselves first and foremost.
