I hate to sound insensitive, but the victim should feel like a moron. The ability to get tailed to that extent is ludicrous. Also for someone to pull the trigger and the gun be empty...now way am I speeding off. I'm getting out the car and getting my money back. Besides that, I'm probably driving off before that if anyone approaches my car with a gun. Good luck hitting me with a shot while I swerve away. This ain't the movies, I'll take my chances with his aim.

Also, whenever I leave the casino with way too much cash than I feel comfortable carrying, I always call someone to go home with me. This is where being a twin comes in handy. He's usually at the casino with me and we end up leaving together. Most people would rather rob a single person than two young black guys who also likely have weapons on them.

if I ever felt anything strange was going on while driving home I would just be aware of where the police station is so that you can just drive there, guaranteed they wont follow you, also I would hope 100% that you have a cell phone

[/ QUOTE ]

Exactly such a thing happened to a friend many years ago (basically before cell phones were common). But he happened to a 2m radio geek. So he found himself being followed as he left a park at night, made a few turns to be sure, and then used his 2m to call the cops and tell them "I'm on such a such a street being followed, I'm driving to the police station on 6th street, please have someone outside to meet me". They did.

Turns out the two clowns following him were off duty police reservists. They just decided my friend was behaving suspiciously and decided to follow him. There was a lot of yelling involved as some police LT explained to the reservists that this is not the way off duty officers are expected to behave.

i don't know about you guys, but i keep most of my bankroll in the bank. right now its in a money market account, though i may roll some into a liquid CD soon. It's +EV and easier money than a live 2/4 game

I am only saying that you don't have to be a high roller to open a casino account, for those that may not know any better.

Thanks. Notwithstanding the merits of the OP or the street smarts of your friend, I found this interesting and potentially useful information.

Realistically, how much would be the minimum to open an account before you'd not have them roll their eyes at your request? And does this apply to other casinos outside the LA area? Is there a charge for this service?

As I move up stakes at Foxwoods, I can see how this might be useful, if they offer something similar.

I probably wouldn't notice someone following me home after a 24 hour session. I'm also not a fighter... Does this make me some sort of idiot if I get robbed at gunpoint by someone who followed me home?

I left the casino in ghetto NY a couple of years ago with over 11k... First thing that came into mind was giving a security guard a c-note to walk me to my vehicle. Since I was staying in one of the nicer suburbs, I felt ok once I got there...but I wasn't going to take any chances. The very next morning, I wired most of the money into my bank account in Vegas. Although I can't be as "poetic" as the OP, I will offer this advice: DONT GET CAUGHT UP IN THE MOMENT OF A BIG SCORE! Do the right thing to protect yourself from theft.

Okay I live in Canada and people aren't nearly as dog eat dog as the States. But here is some advice, if you don't feel comfortable taking all that cash home, get the casino to cut you cheque. Use an ATM at the casino to deposit the cash. Also what moron would ever let a stranger walk up to him while he is in his car. If that was me I drive away or run the retard down....... I think that it's a great post. It reminds us all that while walking aroung with 5-10K is common in a poker room, it is very uncommon in the real world.

I'm going to take some time to review how I make myself less vulnerable.
Thanks for the heads up DaveT

I think I go with your first option. Running the guy over gets hard to justify in court when the perp turns out to be a homeless guy or squeegee man.

My home casino used to be notorious for stickups like this. Now you can get security to escort you to your car and drive with you a few miles if you want...but don't know how much that would help.
