Default this makes me effing sick:: protecting yourself and your roll

Story. Some person walks into a B&M with $2000. He hops onto the 100 NL table and runs up $2000. Next he goes to 200 NL and runs up some more dough.

Well, anyway, upon completing this adventure, this person winds up winning $8000 in one night.

He drives away. When he is about one block away from his house in ARCADIA, some *censored* taps on his car window with a gun and says "Open up or I'll shoot!" He rolls down his window and hands over all $10,000. Then this (thug) pulls the trigger.

Luckily for our victim, there was no bullets in the gun. He sped off. I would have probably did a U-turn and ran this *censored* over.

The reason why I am writing this post is for anyone who plays in a BM with actual money. I would like to give a few pointers to anyone who finds themselves walking out the door with a ton of cash. My advice is simple: STOP.

Please remember that money brings out the worst in some people, and also remember who you are sometimes dealing with, and also remember that many casino's esp in SoCal, are smack-dab in the middle of the ghetto.

While all the 3/6 stars on this site find it no big deal to drop $300 in a session, remember that minimum wage in California is 6.75/hr. If some donkey loses $300 in one session, well, he brings home $275/wk. This is crushing. Several drug dealers just scored big and want to parlay their money. These people ALL have pea brains and don't understand poker.

Open a player's account. You can start one with as little as $100 dollars. This is your bankroll anyway. Losing it in the parking lot would be devastating. Leave it where it belongs.

Am I the only one who doesn't understand this paragraph? Particularly the last two sentences?

You mean as opposed to playing in a B&M with fake money?

That is your bankroll anyway? What are you talking about?

Strangest post of the day thus far...

I AGREE 100%...

Anytime I have a big win... I make it a point to make a few jokes about my players bank being so small and needing a deposit.

Also, I always valey... and luckily... I drive so fast and illegally... I think I would spot someone following me.

so your friend was followed all the way home approx 30 miles from any LA casino to Arcadia I'm assuming and he couldn't figure it out that he was being tailed...

follow home robberies in LA are very common, I don't know why he isn't sharp enough to just watch his back a little especially with 10K on him...

How does he get someone tapping on his window a block from his house? Does he not notice someone approaching? I'm wondering how he managed to win 8k with his great observational skills.

I am saying that money represents a lot more to certain people. Certain people are more prone to violence when they are either desperate or they feel a real loss of power after losing. While the thugs are fine screwing their neighbor for the dough. It would feel silly for them to have to go home and tell all their freinds that they just got outplayed by some white guy.

I am saying that you ought to keep your bankroll where you use it. Similarly to how and OL player keeps his roll in the account. I am only saying that you don't have to be a high roller to open a casino account, for those that may not know any better.

Yeah, seems like he should have noticed something well before someone being able to pull up behind him, get out and walk up to the glass

Needs some better observational skills for sure, maybe a faster car, tinted windows are also pretty sweet

I typically walk in/out of my local b&m with $1-3k three or four times a week, if I ever felt anything strange was going on while driving home I would just be aware of where the police station is so that you can just drive there, guaranteed they wont follow you, also I would hope 100% that you have a cell phone - I would also try to take a few weird turns to confirm there is no way the person behind you is going to a similar location - dont want to make an ass of yourself by calling in something that isnt happening

also what does a guy playing 100 or 200 NL need $2k for unless he is a big donk....

I have a few grand on me most of the time. You really gotta be aware of your surroundings. And I also don't get how you don't notice someone coming up to your car, especially in a place like Arcadia at night. I mean theres like 500 apartments in the entire city. The rest is homes. Theres no one on the streets at night.

I also don't get how you let someone tail you on surface streets. People like your clueless friend are exactly why we have the traffic problems we do in Los Angeles.....people who are totally passive and focus only on what they themselves are doing rather than also take into account what is going on around them.
