Re: How much do you spend on food per month?
On average about $15 CDN a day. I go to a lot of nice restaurants, but nice restaurants in Montreal are bring-your-own-wine and usually cost $15-20 CDN.

I don't cook any meals. I mostly just order (and often sushi) out but I go to a sitdown about 2-3 times a week. I think it works out to be about $1200 or so a month. [/ QUOTE ] |

I'm pretty sure I could get by on $3 / per day, without skimping on any essential nutrients. As it is I think I spend between $150-$200 (CDN) a month. Basically I stick to staple foods (bread, potatoes, vegetables, pasta, some meat) and avoid processed foods as much as possible, although lately my diet has been sucking (nothing but bread, meat and cheese). EDIT : I spend way more on cigarettes than I do on groceries. [/ QUOTE ] I guess I could spend $0 a day and drink nothing but public tap water, but I wouldn't live for very long. your cigarettes and bread diet doesn't seem much better. |

Re: How much do you spend on food per month?
Hmmmm.
Breakfast might cost me $20/week tops. Lunch at about $15/day x 5 days, plus $5/day x 2 days = $85/week. Dinner at about $5/day for two days, $0/day for three days and $75/day for two days. $160/week. Total - $1,060/month. |

I eat almost every meal home cooked and I can't imagine spending only 100 bucks on groceries. what does your grocery list look like? [/ QUOTE ] same. I cant imagine this. I dont buy anything premade my entire grocery list is just ingredients and Its still $75 every time I go to the store. I eat a lot of fruit tho, and most people dont. and fruit is expensive, so maybe thats it. |

Also note does not include my bar tab which is about another $500 for the month. How anyone is spending less then this is beyond me. When my girl and I got out to dinner I get that warm and fuzzy feeling when the bill is under $75. |

Re: How much do you spend on food per month?
Ugh, probably $400-$500, which is sad because I live in a city that isn't terribly expensive (Madison, WI).
I rarely cook and I end up eating out most of the time. |

Minimum of $30/day, usually a lot more. I eat out or order in every single meal.

I spend about $2,000/month between groceries, the bar, and eating out. EVEN without the latter two, I can't see how anyone eats at home for dollars a day. Even a pound of chicken costs $6/pound, that's just chicken if you're eating on the cheap. Start getting into steak and seafood and you can spend exponentionally more per pound. Fresh produce isn't cheap, not to mention everything else that goes with the meal. |
