This is in the wrong forum, but someone asked for my comments on this. This is a gaminf issue. If this happened on my shift I would alert the casino shift manager and surveliance. He may or may not be permitted to cash out the chips. By the rules of poker he is obligated to make the call good. I woudl rule he made the call the chips go in the center; if he now refuses there is a problem. He has possession of the chips so I will not be taking them from him. The casino shift manager will have to make a decision on whether or not he can cash them (he won't be cashing them in the poker room).

edit to add: The most likelly outcome is he keeps his money and gets barred from the casino and the casino pays you the amount of the call (assuming they want to do the right thing or gaming gets involved).

Well he definetly didn't cash out in the poker room. And yes he is barred. The unique thing about this situation is that I am almost positive he is a novice player and a move would be way over his head. Remember your first time in a casino playing. Pretty intimidating. Lots going on. Definetly no time to set up a move.

Or maybe this guy was just a [censored] with a few too many screws loose. Will never know. i guess I posted this to find out what other floor men would do in this situation. I believe our floorman did the right thing and gave him the ultimatum. He took the outta here end.

Do you realize how easy it is to take advantage of this if you let him keep his money?

Technically a player can say "call" and then watch the river and say he said "fold" when he sees he lost and if chips arn't put in the middle, there is nothing that can be done besides tell the player he must leave and never come back.

Gotta love when people on the internet take statements out of context and then proceed to call others names. No need big guy. No one is retarded. And if you read through the thread and see that he never moved his chips then yes we cannot touch them. Sorry if this is knew to you but I'm sure your a great floorman at your casino. If you even work in a poker room.

As far as that statement goes, it is pretty accurate I would say. Yes people can do that. the downfall to their "brilliant" plan is that they will be banned from our cardroom forever and also any adjacent ones in our area. So if they never feel the need to play live poker in the immediate area then I guess they can use that move. Most people even if the verbal call is disputed would have paid up because they would not have wanted it to go as far as it did because they value their live play. Obviously this particular guy did not.

As a side note seeing as how you are a "Noob" here, calling people retarded will not win you over much when you expect people to respond to your posts/thoughts/ideas/etc....learn a little edicate.

Rumor around the Rio is that exactly this happened there, too, maybe 9mo ago? But for a lot more money in a NL2/5 game. Player clearly said "call", it got dealt out, he lost, and he refused to pay. He had never moved a chip, so survellance can't prove anything and it comes down to he-said/he-said. Basically the same result there... the cheat was told to leave, and the player who got stiffed was told he could take the guy to court to collect if he wanted to.

Which is why they now insist that after you say "all-in" you make some forward motion with the chips. The claim was if survellance has something on tape to show it, then they have a clearly provable case and it becomes criminal. They'd detain the guy and call for the cops. That doesn't sound completely right to me--the act is criminal or it isn't--but it does sound plausible that the casino is going to be far more willing to detain someone pending arrest if they have solid evidence of the event.

All 3rd hand info gleaned from random chatter with the dealers and floor people at The Rio.

if true that is BS.

casino is there to run the game. players are there to pay the rake for the casinos to run the game. casino should not step out of player issues and claim it is between the players to work out.
