Re: Herpes - yikes
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] 've dated a girl with herpes before and would say if you really like her you should give the relationship a chance. You will always have to wear a condom and "clean up or wash up" afterwards. [/ QUOTE ] You know that condoms are not all that effective vs. herpes, right? Obviously they're much better than nothing, but when you have sex with a condom on, you'll still have skin-to-skin contact down there. This might actually be a case where you want to wait until you're married to have sex. [/ QUOTE ] Good lord is this true? I was certain condoms were effective. In any case I assume I'm safe since I dated this girl about 5 years ago. Sorry to hijack but this information scares me. |

Re: Herpes - yikes
My ex's sister had the herps. I knew this but my girl at the time always asked me not to say anything to sisters BF it was her responsiblity.
She finally told him and Sure enough he stayed. She was pretty hot. Any way the relationship ended eventually. He was left with the itchy scratchies. There is ways to protect your self but there will always be a drunk night or a moment of lust where you say F" it Lets just doit. Good luck with it. |

Re: Herpes - yikes
[ QUOTE ]
As I understand it, the virus can't enter my body through the skin. As long as I don't have any broken skin down there and have a condom covering the rest I should be "safe". [/ QUOTE ] You can have micro-tears in your skin that you don't know about. From the CDC: [ QUOTE ] Genital ulcer diseases can occur in both male and female genital areas that are covered or protected by a latex condom, as well as in areas that are not covered. Correct and consistent use of latex condoms can reduce the risk of genital herpes only when the infected area or site of potential exposure is protected. Since a condom may not cover all infected areas, even correct and consistent use of latex condoms cannot guarantee protection from genital herpes. [/ QUOTE ] http://www.cdc.gov/std/Herpes/STDFact-Herpes.htm [ QUOTE ] Good lord is this true? I was certain condoms were effective. In any case I assume I'm safe since I dated this girl about 5 years ago. Sorry to hijack but this information scares me. [/ QUOTE ] If its been 5 years and you haven't had an outbreak, you're probably fine. However, many people who have herpes don't know that they have it, because they don't have outbreaks, or they're so mild that they don't recognize them as herpes. Sorry to scare you, but you probably should get tested. Here, this gave me a chill: [ QUOTE ] Many genital herpes infections are spread from persons who are asymptomatic "Shedders" of the virus. Re: Herpes - yikes
The difference between love and herpes is that herpes lasts forever, dont do it man.
