this is the gayest of many gay words/phrases that came to pass in the gay year of 1999. now it is primarily used by gay consultants who think it is still(?) cool.

[ QUOTE ] You guys really got confused by this? Come on, guys. [/ QUOTE ] I must say I was/am flummoxed. Q2#3 seems redundant. Or it's some kind of question-answering skill-tester. Perhaps just a little slaphappy today. [/ QUOTE ] It's because a large number of people will answer both polls . If the 3rd option wasn't there I bet a large number of people would have voted for the second. |

[/ QUOTE ] Apparently 2/3rds of the voters thought that way. What about Q2#1-2 having 23 replies while Q1#1 has 20. Thankfully American Idol is on in less than two hours. That should distract me from this confusion. |

BVT,
"What about Q2#1-2 having 23 replies while Q1#1 has 20." Yes, that is indeed an indicator of some dumb-assness. The third answer was put in the poll for two reasons: 1) Give "no" answerers a way to see results of that poll. 2) Make it less likely that "no" answerers end up accidentally answering and thus screwing up results of second poll. |

It always irritates me when people use the word ping in this context. If you are one of those people, I have lost whatever remaining shred of respect I may have had for you.

I've used it online, never in conversation.
In newsgroups, it was used to get someone's attenion. A header might read, Ping: El D Now people use, Attn: El D |
