Here's a pic from one of 4/8 O8 sessions I played in a while back.

It can be a depressing game. But all the loose play and horrendous calls make up for it. People couldn't get their money in fast enough with the worst of it.

I've been spending a lot of time in the 10/20 O8 at the Wynn lately, and the nittyness really isn't so bad. Game ranges from blah to excellent depending on who's playing.

What a surprise, it hasn't changed in the 2 1/2 yrs since I worked there. I called it "Oh my hell" These people were horrible! They are the reason I quit.

[/ QUOTE ]

And you know they're bad when she only has to deal them one down per shift. I've had the same experience with the small O8 game in my casino: Resorts, Gary IN.

[/ QUOTE ]

Isn't Gary, Indiana, itself incredibly depressing? I can only imagine an O8 game at a casino at that place. Do they bring prozac instead of cocktails?

Somehow I just knew this thread had to involve the Orleans in some way.

Maybe so. What's the standard LV rake for those games? 5% to $4.00 w/ no jackpot drop? I suppose that if the pots are all pretty big it's comparable when you add in the Orleans jp drop but the $4.00 total comes out a lot faster now at the Orleans (at $30 instead of at $80 in the 'big' rooms). And, as another poster said, those quarters make a big difference.

[/ QUOTE ]

This is incorrect. About 90% of the rooms in LV are 10% to $4, not 5%. A few rooms have a rake "schedule" like 1 on 10, 1 on 20, 1 on 40, 1 on 60, or similar.

[/ QUOTE ]

Ok, I stand corrected then, but I thought I remembered from both the Wynn's and Venetian's 4-8 that the 4th dollar came out at $80. Maybe I don't remember correctly or these rooms are not standard.

Most of the Omaha games in my area are full of old players but they have a mix of bad holdem players who try and use 1 from their hand and 4 from the board. Or 3 from their hand and 2 from the board, and think 87 is a great low, as for cranky on edge players, I have never seen them, but I haven't played anything beyond white chip crackhead games..... This is entirely possible. It could be 1 at 10, 1 and 30, 1 and 60, 1 at 80 or something similar.

Still no matter what rake in Las Vegas you run into, it's still on average, lower than anywhere else (legal) in the U.S. which pleases me big time.
