You can also train yourself to take 'power-naps', without using an alarm to wake up, for 20-25mins or so... they're quite beneficial halfway through the day to refresh your mind/body, and you can get away with less sleep at night

I don't know why but the same thing happened to me. I haven't set it for 2 years now and I'm never late for work. Very peculiar situation and it's interesting that it's not just me.

Regards,
G.I.

You sound just like me. If there is something important for me to do the next morning, such as an exam at 9 am, I don't need an alarm clock to wake up. I will get up in time to get ready, guaranteed. On the other hand, if I don't have any reason to get up, the loudest sound on earth won't get me to rise from my fartsack. It leads to a very messed up sleeping schedule, which is quite annoying.

actually you have some hormones that wake you up in the morning (these are released after REM sleep)

if you dont have a steady sleep pattern, u dont REM and thus u dont get the hormone kick => u dont wake up on time.

with a steady sleep pattern, u REM at a pretty set time and the hormone kick will wake u up!

basically it has nothing to do with the alarm clock, but only your sleep pattern.

I get this, but I'm not sure it's the same thing as others have suggested. I can just say to myself the night before "right, wake up at 5am tomorrow" and I do, unless terminally drunk or short of sleep. I can "ask" for different times, and it works fine.

I still set the alarm though, just in case :]

Confirmation bias perhaps?

I woke up this morning, looked at the clock-- 23 minutes late, oh, forgot to set the alarm. Time to get up. Did the quick preparation for work, skipped eating, and left 10 minutes later than usual. Made it to work on time.
