Default Re: TRUEPOKER......... Where too many players play for \"fun\",

I play almost exclusively at True Poker, and I have to say that TruePoker CEO is speaking the truth. They have made *many* improvements over the last year which have improved game play and made the interface more user-friendly. Also, I can attest to the fact that there are more people playing today on TP than there were even a few months ago.

Finally, I have nothing but positive things to say about TP's support. I have had a few minor problems that I've needed fixed, and they've always responded (with a solution) to my emails within an hour of receiving them.

The yellow thing was an improvement and I noticed it too. But even with the yellow bit I still think it's not terribly easy following the action or where the button is.

I have this issue at other sites sometimes as well...but not as badly as I do at True.

2d version would help in this regard. Think you might have mentioned that you would consider that but don't know where that stands now.

I even have difficulty reading the board-cards and differentiating the clubs from spades sometimes because of the 3d-ness of them and how they are angled away from you.

Bigger board-cards (and the option to just have them 'flat' instead of angled) would help some.

Also - yours is not the only site that makes you sit-out to rebuy at the table. You have to have a hand where you fold early on and then hit rebuy kind of quickly. Pretty annoying.
I can't remember the other site I played on that made you do this as well...but you aren't alone in having made this mistake.

Support e-mail - I find it hard to believe that they wouldn't respond after 10-20 attempts.
Sometimes people THINK the site is ignoring them but really it's the ISP that is blocking the e-mails before they even get to you. AOL and hotmail have evidently done this. The e-mails might not even make it to your spam-folder. They are blocked before they even get close to you. I had this issue with Party and Stars back when I was on AOL.
And, of course, if the person doesn't even know to check in their spam-folder then that increases the chances that True had been trying all along to get back in touch and he just didn't know it.

regarding ptracker Pat - just e-mail support@pokertracker.com
I suspect that should work.
He has personally responded to me and they usually do so quickly.

FWIW - Pokertracker is not the super-high priority for me that I previously stated it was.
I've been playing at more smallish sites lately that are not p-tracker compatible and am liking it just fine.
P-tracker helps but it is no longer a make-or-break it for me....although I'm pretty sure that it is for some other players.

Right now I've been playing at WSEX/WPEX where they are offering 100% rakeback to ALL their players. They are not p-tracker compatible either.

I know you don't have time to read all the threads on 2+2 but this is a big development in the online-poker universe imo and I thought I would alert you to it because you might find it interesting.

WSEX/WPEX is offering 100% rake-free poker because they are just trying to draw more bettors to their more profitable sportsbook.

With all due respect to the PT "source", we never received that "request". I don't know to whom it went, but neither I nor any development or marketing person received these contacts ...

The relative order of players, with respect to the dealer/button never changes. I am a bit surprised to hear that THAT has been the apparent issue all along.

I always thought it was that we were not big enough to bother with, which is what I was told in effect.

I'll be happy to contact whoever at PT wrote that email blurb and explain that the "relative position" is and that it remains fixed. Feel free to pass this interest along to your correspondent.

We would be glad to work with them to get something workable that is a simple application, although I have been told that the present hand histories can be parsed and used as is.

Couldn't any site just format their hand histories like Party's or any other site that currently works with PT?

Actually, Bob, I will be speaking on this topic at the Casino Affiliates Conference in Amsterdam this weekend.

This is a fascinating development, time will tell if it represents a paradigm shift in the online poker universe. It certainly represents a major shift in the attitude of WSEX from when they introduced poker several years ago.

A common issue for many sports books looking at poker is that they consider their "players' bankrolls" to be won by them eventually over the course of a "season".

Their internal balancing criteria has frequently been to consider likely poker revenue gained versus that portion of the aggregate players' bankroll lost to "poker players".
When WSEX first brought poker to its book, there was concerned because their sports players were getting killed in their high stakes games. This was back in 2002, when we were based in Antigua where they are located. Perhaps that viewpoint has changed on their part.

The development may have ripple effects in the online economics, down to the bonus whore/affiliate/rakeback site level. .... or it may prove a temporary, perhaps seasonal marketing ploy to beef up sports accounts for next "season" for US players.

I will still be on Support's case as to any specific failings however.

Very interesting TPCEO.

If you are willing to share, I would be very interested to hear what others have to say in Amsterdam about the WPEX promotion...as well as your future thoughts as to the kind of impact you think it is having.

Well, his source was me and if you are David Gzesh then I most certainly did correspond with you last year. Below is an email chain which includes the last email I sent to you which. After I sent this I heard nothing back from you despite a couple other attempts. After that, I just figured you no longer cared about the issue:

That really wouldn't work either because seat 1 is always going to have a different name. Ideally, you would want seat 1 to always have the same player name as long as the player is in that seat. I could illustrate better with some example hand histories, I'm working on getting some or if you can send me some I can use those.

Thanks.

Well if the first listed name is called the 1 seat that would work ..... unless Poker Tracker would count a player joining, i.e being added to the list as changing everyones' seat below him.

In any event, our developers might have some unique identifier which would serve as a proxy. That is something for me to ask them, rather than guess at myself.

Poker Tracker uses a combination of the table name, date and seat number to determine a unique session. If it's continuously changing based on position relative to the button, it would be difficult to determine if a player got up and changed seats to get position on another player. PT would consider this to be another session.

Okay, but why would seat numbers matter if it gives the position relative to the buttons/blinds. We do not have seat numbers as the view is always from the 8 seat .... but consistent relative to the button/blinds and other players' positions.

I'll see what I can do to get some sent to you.

I haven't seen the TP hand histories for a while but at the time they were missing things like seat numbers and some other things I can't recall. I'm waiting for someone that plays there to send me an example hand history so I can give you more detail.

Thanks.

Can we get an idea of what the requirements are for integrating our hand history reporting with PokerTracker ? It sounds like the format in which histories are reported is what is at issue.

I can then pass it along to our developers to see what, if anything, we can do to integrate.

Thanks,

OP -

If you think TruePoker sucks so much, why do you play there? I have no opinions about TruePoker, as I haven't played there, but I do appreciate the CEO's openness.

I just don't get why some people get so emotional and hostile just because they think a poker room sucks. Play somewhere else.

Before getting to your more substantive points:

"First I would like to say that I love the alternative avatars with the characters and so. Its fun that they can talk and move the arms. But when it has a negative influence on the flow of the pokergame, its not acceptable.'

I cannot figure out how this action, which is in no way tied to the game logic, has any effect whatsoever on the flow pf the poker game .... except that players may be having "fun" as you put it by using the chat functions and audio comments. That is something that the players do for "fun", which you might consider is a good person to play against .... someone who is having a good time.

When you have to lower your cards to see how much money you have, then it interferes with the gameflow.
When you have to look hard to see where the button is and to find out if the guys in the other end have cards, it interferes with the gameflow.
And sometimes when the guys have lowered the cards and raised them again - you cant see the cards on the table and you think they dont have any - that also interferes with the gameflow.

[ QUOTE ]

Just a nit, and meant as constructive criticism. "these" and "compete", both only use one e in the middle of the word and one e on the end. The e on the end implies the hard "e" pronunciation.

Not trying to be an ass, but I see from your location that English may not be your first language, so I thought that you may not know this.

No problem boy. Thought about making a note saying sorry for my bad english. But it seemed like you understood it anyway. Wonder how you would do in danish...

One could hope they would listen and actually MAKE these improvements. Then I would GLADLY play there as I like the avatar idea....ok?
