When was he on The Circuit? It's on hiatus now until Foxwoods starts on the 6th. Could this be a Full Tilt Poker podcast?

He's lying. I don't care if its a tournament, If he's sitting on the button, UTG opens for 4x the BB, UTG+1 reraises, MP1 (who has everyone covered) pushes, and MP2 (who also has ferguson covered) calls instantly, he's folding, and he's not really even thinking about it.

I think context is important here. He was probably joking.

Ferguson makes small bets based on the theory of geometric growth of the pot. All i really know about it is that it is supposed to be some sort of prefect game theory strategy.

I believe he advocates generally betting less than pot size (1/2-2/3), arguing that it gives him the ability make profitable bets with a wide range and to manuever more on later streets. Seems a decent general strategy in tournament play for someone with such a mathematical approach because it creates situations with more variables in the calculation, which gives him an advantage over most opponents.

I was just writting what was in the matt matros book. In the book he said that Ferguson gave a talk at a BARGE event and made two statements 1)leave calling to experts (note: experts dont call much) 2) make small bets and raises in NL.

Matros goes on to say that he later found out that Ferguson's reasoning for the small bets/raises comes from the theory of geometric growth of pots ( Matros, pp. 133-134

Edit: My mistake for not giving my source in my earlier post. Sorry about that.

This sounds very much like Ray Zee's underbetting strategy in cash games. Must be a crock of [censored].

In tournaments it seems like a good strategy because you need alot of small pots help you stay in front of the blinds and when you do catch the monster you get paid off.

Of course we all saw how well drastic underbets worked for Phil Hellmuth in the high stakes cash game.
