Re: Have a nice day sir

This is very much an American thing. I only get called sir when I am in the US, and then, way too much.

What is very strange about the US, is that people call service staff sir when they want...

Bellagio 40-80 Mixed Game

Anyone played it, or play it regularly? I got my feet wet this weekend - seemed like reasonable limits to learn some new games. Players seemed friendly, but unforgiving of dealer screw-ups. One...

Re: Poolside Cabanas at the Hard Rock

StevieG - you are right.

Vegas is a once a year thing for me (at best), and I've never been to the Hard Rock before. Consensus (from the replies above) seems to be that it is indeed, all that.

Re: Official Watch Flight of the Concords Tonight It\'s Awesome Thread

AJay2000 - I see where you are coming from with the Bjork vid... Definitely sure its not this though - only because the song is not iconic enough to be parodied (arguably Bjork's vid is a parody...

Re: Official Watch Flight of the Concords Tonight It\'s Awesome Thread

Thanks for the Bjork idea.

I'm fairly sure its not Bjork, because I've never knowingly seen a Bjork video...

I'm also sure that the parodied video would have been in a street similar to this -...

Re: Coming into US from Canada w/ > $10,000 -- problems?

I checked yes on the "Do you have $10,000 or more in cash or cash equivalents" on the form and got held at LAX airport for 2 hours, with no explanation. Almost missed my connecting flight.

Re: Stud 8 pot limit - lots of raises on 3rd street, hero\'s action?

For the dealers choice game - we go for one orbit of the table. So positional advantage (such as it is in this game) is spread around.

Re: Stud 8 pot limit - lots of raises on 3rd street, hero\'s action?

We play a uniform structure in all our games - mainly because its dealers choice and it saves having to explain a new structure every time we go around the table.

I realise that antes with a bring...

Re: Stud 8 pot limit - lots of raises on 3rd street, hero\'s action?

Not in Britain, no...

We play dealer's choice, basically casino games only. Common games are Hold em, Omaha, Omaha hi/lo, Stud, Stud hi/lo. Badugi and Mississippi make rare appearances.

Re: Stud 8 pot limit - lots of raises on 3rd street, hero\'s action?

LAG said after the hand that the second raise was designed to get him headsup with TAG - I think I have a table rep of folding to big reraises.

I didn't put TAG on rolled 7s because I had the case...

I called the $885.

Probably at least 100 poker players in Tokyo, playing in various home games.

Re: What\'s the biggest home game you\'ve ever played in?

Our stacks are not so deep - $500 is the standard buyin. Including what is in the players' pockets, I think you'd be hard-pressed to get $15K between us.

I'm not so worried about being held up or...

Re: pennies

Elevens - that only works if you abandon the nickel as well.

If you keep the 5c piece, then 3,4,6 and 7 all round to 5.
If not, then 1,2,3,4 round down, and 5,6,7,8,9 round up.

Re: Should we eliminate the penny?
