Re: flopped 2 pair, family pot

This hand has been driving me nuts. The salient facts IMO are we got to the flop with huge pot and a hand that is likely good but very vulnerable on a draw-heavy board. It seems to me that...

overplayed set?

No question that a big weakness in my game is losing too much on great but 2nd best hands. The question is whether I'm trying to do it again on this one.

Villain is 65/19/1.75. My impression is...

Re: opponent profile

When I'm selecting a game, I LOOK for guys with stats like this. The way to beat him, IMO, is to bet when you have the best hand and fold when you don't unless the odds justify chasing. He's not...

Re: 6 max 2/4 - turn/river line?

This is a situation that comes up all the time and I think you played it fine. Indications are that villain is neither strong nor aggressive. I think a strong player in his position would reraise...

Re: 5/10 - 34s - Low end of straight in small pot

[ QUOTE ]

I had a general sense that the PFR was a donkey based on a previous hand

[/ QUOTE ]

I think you should go with your instinct that PFR is a donkey. If so, he could be in there...

Re: wtfz0rz

CO's line is all too consistent with his having 77 or 66. His pre-flop raise is of the if-you-can-raise-I-can-too variety that you see a fair amount of when the limits are a little lower, say 1/2...

Re: Kxs

I could be completely out to lunch here, but button's betting stinks to high heaven. I would not be surprised to see him show down AA or KK.

Re: Good or Bad?

I'm not convinced this is a great call preflop. Hard to say what button's cold call is about. Probably means he's a poor player, but he apparently thinks he has SOMETHING. The near-sensible hands...

Re: Two BB defense hands

If he's on a pure steal he's likely to go away. If he's on Ax or Kx he may go away. If he just calls your flop bet, you still have a chance to hit a useful card on the turn. Otherwise, at least...

Maybe you misread the action on this one.

[/ QUOTE ]

No, but I typed turn when I meant flop, and you were quicker than my edit.

Both tags are folding a lot to me preflop

[/ QUOTE ]

I seem to be in the minority here, but I would fold the first hand pre-flop. If the TAGs are folding a lot preflop, they're...

Re: Anybody like?

I don't have much experience in hyperaggressive games and no experience at all at these limits. I'd be interested in more of the rationale behind the given line. Is the plan to call down all the...

Re: How would you all have played this?

I would have made it 3 bets on the flop, but that's just me. Your play could be best. In addition to the hands that are beating you, villain could have something like AQ or JJ or KQ or an A or K...

I would bet the flop here. I like your hand.

I like the hand too, but do you really want to bet out here. Looking at a likely raise from the preflop...

Re: 3/6 - A8 - Trips meets intense agression

Great hand.

Even if you call and it gets capped, you're getting 6-1 to see a showdown. Can you be winning more than one time in 7? I think so. I'm having trouble making sense out of the...

Re: Calling stations affect steal range

I've been playing a lot of 6-max 1/2 lately. In most of these games most players defend their blinds relentlessly and play passively after the flop.

A strategy that has been effective for me when...

Re: 6th Street Decision. $5/$10 Stud High.

I don't play a lot of stud, but for what it's worth, I would check fold 6th. If he doesn't have me beat bad he's too good for me. I've only got 3 outs to a boat and that's what I think I'll need to...

Precise definition of fold equity?

I see a lot of posts that mention fold equity but I don't recall seeing a precise definition either in the forums or in print.

My understanding is that fold equity is just the amount of money in...

Re: QQ when A flops

I apologize for the incoherent post. I meant to say that I would check-fold the flop given the PRE-FLOP action.

Re: QQ when A flops

Call me weak tight, but I check-fold this. If it checks around I'll take a stab at the turn and hope to take down the pot. Given the flop action, I can't imagine I'm good more than 20% of the time....

Re: Couple hands vs. a maniac

Hand 1 flop is major spew imo. You have Q high right now, let him spew when you actually have a hand. I don't think I really even like the c/r because I think he's going to 3ball you way...

Re: AKs vs. raiser from the blinds

One additional thought. Suppose you raise the flop and villain just calls. When the Q hits on the turn, does it make sense to bet if he checks? Raise if he bets? You now have 10 outs to the nuts...

Re: AKs vs. raiser from the blinds

Nobody mentioned that a flop raise might buy you a free look at the river. If villain repops you're not exactly happy, but you certainly have enough outs to draw to see the river.

Re: KQ turn fold?

SB appears to be in there on AK or JJ or 99 or possibly AJ. BB says he called the three-bet with ATs or JTs or T9s or(ugh) J9s. I suppose he could also be getting fancy with AA or KK or QQ or TT or...
