I hedging... against the possibility that the American economy survives.

I tend to think hyperinflation is the more likely scenario for various reasons, but I haven't been able to get deflation...

My understanding is the same as yours, that dropping the peg should promote inflation. I simply think that maintaining the peg is actually worse for us in the long run because it promotes a hollowing...
