I've been on a heater recently, and in the past the thing that seemed to derail heaters was some overly aggressive play. Just a line check here, I think it's standard but want to double check. Villain was 40/30/1 and a typical pretty bad shortstack.

I hate short stacks....
He isn't floating you on the flop so I figure he has a pair. He doesn't have much money left so he is probably calling. If he has something like 99 you are a 2 to 1 dog. You will be getting 3 to 1 to get your money in. So going all in is a +EV play. I think check call is a better play personally because he might check behind. I know we want to be the aggressor so he can fold... but i just don't think he is folding. check/call |
