[ QUOTE ]
a conversation with my best friend the other day who knows nothing about gambling, except that I play poker:

him: "I worked 2 hrs OT today"

me: "that sucks"

him: "no, it's good. I got a bunch of OT this week, I'm working like 48 hours total. I'm gonna take home over 800"

me: "umm...is that good?"

him: "why? how much did you make this week"

me: "I made like 1300, but I only played like 20 hours"

him: "yeah, but how much did you lose?"

me: OMFGROFLOLOLOLOL...

him: "what's so funny?"

me: "eh, nevermind"

him: "ok, whatever. so how much did you lose?"

This was a monumental BBV moment for me. I had never been BHMDYL'd in real life before and never really believed it actually happened. I was going to post about it, but forgot until I saw this post. The most amazing part is that it came from my best friend, not some clueless co-worker or distant family member or someone who doesn't know what I do. He was really serious about it and pressed on, so I just told him that I actually won $2000 and lost $700. He settled for that answer. Non-gamblers are funny sometimes.

[/ QUOTE ]

Why were you throwing it in his face that you make more than him working less? Huge douchebag move

I don't know why you would find this funny, when you can't even understand basic accounting and tax laws.

You said XXXXX. Accountant asked is that winnings or profit, because he wanted to put in the actual number for winnings and use the losses as deductions. Then you said it is profit, and he how much did you lose because the amount you lost + amount in profit = your total winnings. So just 1 more question and got 2 things figured out.

I don't know why you would find this funny, when you can't even understand basic accounting and tax laws.

seriously, the fact that he asked you "profit or winnings?" then proceded to ask you how much you lost should be grounds for him to lose his CPA. last i heard, retards can't be certified public accountants.

I think we're all missing something with the "But how much did you lose" thing.

There's a forum out there that every other person in the world is a member of, but they are forbidden to tell 2 + 2 readers about it. The sticky thread at the top is: "Do you know a 2 + 2er?" with the content of "If so, please be sure to ask them "Yes, but how much did you lose?" if they talk about poker. They will find this incredibly amusing, but the second-levelling jokes we can break out in six months will cause them all to die of shame, thus enabling us to reap the profits"

Holy crap this is so true. To combat this virus we have to start asking random aquaintances how much money they make at their regular jobs...then:

Norm: I make like 57k a year.
Us: But how much do you lose?
Norm: ??? What?
Us: TAXES BITCH
Norm: I included taxes in that total I mean...
Us: What about food? Didja include burrios hahah.
Us: Anyway, sorry.
Us: So, seriously how much did you lose.

Bring the war home!
