Best ways to borrow cash?

Of course all of those applications you're getting assume that you are employed; you probably won't get any new cards unless you have excellent credit or lie. If your limit is $600 on the card you have now, your credit (or debt:income) is not at the point where you will get any cards that using a cash advance would be advisable. What is your score? You are probably looking at something like 20+% for cash advances + a 3% (capped at a certain dollar amount, maybe $75) transaction fee.

these may actually work:

-enroll in a local college and get some student loans. this is esp good if you're 25 or older. also, you'll be able to apply for pell grants and such (which are a lot better than any loan)

-look for gov'ment programs that may subsidize your job search

-join the army reserve (and probably go straight to bagdad) there are currently big enlistment bonuses...

-i know a guy, 10k @3 points/week.

some more:

-put up your car/land/etc as collateral on a bank loan. if you have a new-ish car worth like 25k, most banks would lend you the 6k you need.

-borrow from a friend that has a pile of money. You don't wanna lose a pal, but if he's making 200k/yr, why not ask?

-become a bonus whore. there's an EASY 10k waiting for anyone with the balls to go after online poker and gambling bonuses. really.

-play better poker. you can support yerself easily playing low limit HE, esp in vegas.

at 33 no one should be broke. anyone can get broke but dont stay broke. get a quick job for cash or tips and play small poker and build it up. put in the hours 7 days a week.
in no time you should get your 6 g's. or have a decent job by then. you have been around enough to make it gambling if you control spending and tilting. good luck.
